McCauley, named in honor of Edmonton's first mayor, the colorful Matthew McCauley. By 1912, the northeastern extension of the line ran through the heart of McCauley, and development soon followed.
Today McCauley is a vibrant and ethnically diverse neighborhood and continually redeveloping. Famous as the home of dozens of religious buildings in a small area as well as hosting the 1978 Commonwealth Games.
Several commercial businesses run through this neighborhood, Edmonton's Little Italy, and Chinatown.
