Bannerman, along with much of present-day homes in the northeast Edmonton was annexed to the City of Edmonton in 1961.  Bannerman is a residential neighborhood in the Clareview area.  The City of Edmonton Council approved the Clareview Outline Plan in May 1972; however, most of the residential land in Bannerman developed during the 1970's.

The neighborhood, named after a local businessman H. Bannerman who settled in the Belmont area in 1883.  Mr. Bannerman also served on the Belmont School Board.

This neighborhood has access to a variety of businesses available at the Clareview Town Centre on Victoria Trail.  Residents also have access to Edmonton's commercial and employment areas via the LRT terminal pm 137th Avenue, at the Claireview Station.

The one school in Bannerman is the Bannerman Elementary Junior High School, operated by the Edmonton Public School Board System.  That believe in nurturing and celebrating the academic, physical, and moral growth of all students.  This neighborhood also hosts the Bannerman Community League on 14034 - 23 Street, a great place for gathering, small meetings, dance groups, craft workshops, yoga classes and much more.

Bannerman real estate is bordered North by 144 Avenue, East by 20 Street, South by 137 Avenue, West by Victoria Trail.
