Abbottsfield Real Estate
Abbottsfield, owned by E.F Carey, co-founder of the merchandising firm of Norris and Carey and one of Edmonton's most prominent nineteenth-century citizens in 1882. Since Abbottsfield was east of the Town of Beverly, it remained a rural area until it was annexed to the City in 1961.
A decade after annexation there was no residential development in Abbottsfield as it was too close to the Beverly landfill site and the chemical plants east of the North Saskatchewan River. However, at the end of the '60s, the City transformed the landfill site into Rundle Park, a multi-purpose educational and recreational resource along the North Saskatchewan River. Due to this change, most of Abbottsfield was constructed in the '70s.
The housing is built around a centrally located multiple purpose school and recreation site. The residents of Abbottsfield have good access to employment and commercial centers throughout the City. Abbottsfield Park being close to the river valley and park provides a variety of recreational activities, and the Recreation Center provides recreational programs and community groups.
Abbottsfield real estate is bordered North by Yellowhead Trail, East by Victoria Trail, South by 118 Avenue, West by 34 Street.
